We have come to that GROSS point. What do you do with the pine shavings that you've dumped into a pile out of the way? We have never done this before. I have also never composted!
What are your tips? How do you do it? What do you do with the straw bedding after you clean your duck house? PLEASE give us some tips.
Pictures would be great!
TIA

I dump the pine shavings from the ducks and the straw from the chickens in a pile in the garden and put some black plastic over it to speed the decomposing process. We rotatil the compose in our soil every year in the garden. We also bought these rotatable composte boxes when we didn't have a spot for the composte pile.

I deep litter the run so most of my chicken coop stuff goes into run. Summer we use misters and when winter comes here to SoCal it rains, so it is a work in progress. I turn the stuff over every week or two. When fall gets here will be adding leaves to the mix as well. Should have some nice rich soil by next spring.
