My brooder looks pretty mouse proof yeah? Once the sick ones are healthy, I’ll be moving them into a set up in that dog kennel/run thing you can see in the pic above and keeping the workshop warm enough for them. They will be 5 weeks on sat so I was planning on around 70 degrees. Then I’ll bleach/disinfect this brooder like crazy for the next group.
I'd say pretty nice brooder!!!:th

Well, after all of this, turns out it’s a respiratory infection. I rushed them to the vet today when I woke up to the healthy 4 all sick now. Can’t believe it was a respiratory infection and had I taken them to the vet sooner, I could have saved them. Apparently that rocking was them struggling to breath. I never would have known. Hoping these 4 pull through on antibiotics.
Yeah, I am so glad you took them in! That is what I like to do rather than treat them for something that they may not have. Hopefully all your babies will survive!

Should I move the chicks inside??? I hate hate hate the red heat lamp and am scared I’ll burn my house down but I could move them into a bin inside with a heat lamp
I hate the red heat lamp too! I ended up using the ceramic reptile heating bulbs.

So, my gut tells you that you are right about this. That they were carrying the disease and then the stress of transport made it active. So my question is this, if I get chicks from elsewhere, will they just catch it from mine and it’s pretty much hopeless?
Most likely

Yeah. Lesson learned. Next time I will be much much quicker to take them in.
