Have Valbazen on the way but not here yet. Will safeguard paste do the trick? I already used it a couple months back...

It appears to be round worm. I used safe guard liquid (Im sure paste will work just as well) and switch next time to valbazen. if you think they are infected bad you can use your paste and in 10 days do again with valbazen. I got/inherited a new flock and they were loaded and I treated and then again in 10 days. all are fine. I gave mine 1/2 cc of either med per treatment... I read some 1 cc per bird...but I think that is alot as I give my peacocks which are much heavier than a chicken 1 cc

Thank you!! Just once and then again in 10 days or for 3-5 days and then again in 10? I see do much conflicting info, which might've been why it didn't work last time I used it (back in July)... Or I suppose they could have cropped back up again due to the muggy, hot summer weather.

I don't want to overdose but definitely don't want to underdose! Also, kinda worried because my girls are starting to molt, too, and I heard that dewormers can cause regrowth issues. I'm doing it anyway because it seems that level of worms would be worse in the end (even fatal).

So glad your girls bounced back 100%--that is good to hear. I panicked when I saw that poop. Luckily mine are acting fine still, so hopefully this was caught in time.

what amount of cc do you use? for a chicken maybe I am under dosing I only use 1/2 cc... on instructions for my peacocks it says 1 cc per bird of 20lbs....none of my chickens are 20lbs

I dose them with safe guard and then 10 days later use the valbazen...I actually use a syringe and someone holds them and I open the beak and push the syringe way back straight in the throat and give each 1/2 cc so I know each bird got the meds and am not relying on food or water and hope each got enough. mine were molting as well, I dont believe that would hurt in any way while molting but yes the worms can kill them, the possible delay in feather regrowth cant. give them some apple cider vinegar in their water and some electrolytes. I also put out some organic dirt with some DE in it for dirt baths to help with mites/lice. I used an old plastic cement mixing pan to ut it in and they loved it about 4-5 would get in at the same time. Extra greens during molting helps with stress also... mine love mustard greens and kale. I dont do that everyday as it can be expensive but once a week was a good treat, mine also free range...you are right though there are so many instructions out there you just dont know which is right.

I went with the "pea size" rule of thumb--smaller for smaller hens, larger for larger hens. I put it on a small piece of bread so they gobble it up. If anything I may have overdid it on the dosage. I'll measure it next time to make sure. My Valbazen should be here within 10 days so I can follow-up with that.

Looks like a roundworm.

You can use Safeguard paste.
It's important to measure out and give the correct dose. You need to weigh a few of your birds too to make sure that you are giving the correct dose so treatment is effective.

For treatment of Roundworms only give the Safguard at a rate of 0.23ml per pound of weight orally once, then repeat in 10 days.
To treat other types of worms including roundworms but not tapeworms, give Safeguard at a rate of 0.23ml per pound of weight orally once a day for 5 days in a row.

Valbazen is a good dewormer too - when is it coming in? If very soon, you may want to just use that since you used Safeguard recently.
Valbazen dose is 0.08ml per pound of weight given orally once then repeat in 10 days.

For either the Safeguard or Valbazen give a direct oral dose to each bird. Syringe the medication into them first thing in the morning before they have had anything to eat.
