Help wirh Whire Doves..

Great video :) Your pigeons aren't white "doves" (actually white homing pigeons should only be used for releases), but rather what appear to be fancy breed mixes. Which is good, because you shouldn't have to worry about them getting spooked and flying off as bad. I would leave her be now that you have the nestbox modified to pigeon-sized. If a chicken gets in and chases her out, hopefully she'll learn her lesson. But I wouldn't advise putting 4 eggs in one nest, especially this time of year with the heat. At least one is usually overpowered and stunted. Unless you want to let one pair hatch them and you help by hand feeding the runts :)

thanks Mary.......a newbie quesion......how long is the incubation?......i was also told to make a couple more boxes for the pigeons cause they need another box to lay eggs while they feed the new born cause if not she'll lay the egg where the baby is in and the egg will get all meesd up with poop and bacteria.

18 days :) And yes, extra boxes do help in case your pairs want to start another nest before the first set of babies is weaned off. It is up to each pair, some do get started again right away, some don't. But always good to have the option open just in case :) The nest can get pretty crowded when mom decides to lay in the same spot as the babies.

Wow! so many nice birds, and so many types.. all types, ages, and sizes, all seeming to get along good out in open. how many of what all types do you have?

I agree with Mary Of Exeter you do not have white doves you have white homing pigeons.

Looks like the squab is being well cared for and you are doing everything right.

Here are some of my white homing pigeons as well.

They are all supposed to be snow white (according to their parents) but it is not a perfect world.

This or and adaptation of make good nest boxes for pigeons.

Good luck RvgChicks

I start training tosses with mine at about 6 to 8 weeks depending on their flying ability and habits some are early bloomers.

They are probably able to fend for themselves at about four weeks (mine are still being fed by their parents at this time occasionally.)

I never actually kept a diary but this may help.
