I got these 3 bantams when they were around a week old, I am guessing by the feathering. At the time, I did not care what kind of chickens they were because I just needed some emergency babies and was just so thrilled to find them I didn't even ask. I had a broody hen who only had 1 egg hatch, it died, and she wouldn't give it up. She had about starved herself sitting, so I got her some chicks.

Now that they are getting a little older, I am wondering what breed they may be. Any clues? This is the day I got them, probably about a week old.

And here they are more recently, at approximately 6 weeks old. The darker two are little cockerels, and the lighter one is a pullet. When Momma hopped the fence, we heard a little crow. They have single combs.

Thanks!

Wow, you are good! I have never even heard of that breed. I just looked it up, and I think you hit the nail on the head! They do have that tall stature of a game bird.

Thanks!

I hope so also. I have no other roo's in the backyard flock now, so there are no others to contend with, at least. If these two get along and don't get too mouthy or aggressive, they can both stay and have the cushy life of a spoiled backyard chicken. We'll see.

I have never had bantams, but a friend of mine does. I think it's hilarious to see her bantam rooster walk around like he's the biggest on the block, even though her other roo's are some pretty big boys!

Cute little guys. From looking at the first photo, I would ve thought all pullets... but some roos do decide to hen feather first.
You ve got some cute little silver duckwing old english game bantams. Be careful, they are flighty. Make sure you handle them lots, and theyll be adorable pets.

If you plan on showing, you must have the roosters dubbed

So pretty! Unfortunately, they are already bit skittish. I was keeping them with Momma, in the garden, but I have been working on so may other projects since they have been here, I haven't spent that much time with them. Waffles (Momma), who is normally very friendly, was also very skittish after she got her chicks, and I just let her do her thing, so that didn't help. I will be spending more time with them now, as things have sowed down a bit. Hopefully, they'll settle down.

I will not be showing them.

Yeah...if you don't handle them once in a while...they will all become aggressive, even the hen. The roosters may even start fighting. We had that exact situation and the roosters bit us every time we picked them up. The hen also became aggressive. We sold them all though...we didn't want to dub the males, and the female didn't get along with the other hens, they didn't mind, but she didn't eat much. The hen had bug eye, so she wasn't good for show. We are now back to the original 3 birds.
