Hi all,

I was wondering if some of you chicken experts could help me identify the breed and sex of some chicks I picked up a little while ago. 5 of them should be bantams, but I am not sure which breed of bantam. Anyways, here are some pics.

1. All I know is it is a bantam. I think this one is a male though. 3-4 weeks old.

2. This one is just over 2 weeks old. It should also be a bantam. It is a light grey all over - almost pigeon like:
400

3. This one and the next look very similar. I am hoping one of them is a Dutch Bantam, but they might be Old English. This one used to have a very distinct black stripe down it, it has faded a bit, but not as much as the other one. They are both about 3 weeks old

4. As noted, this one is similar to the 3rd one. But its strip was not as prominent.

5. This one is only 2 weeks old. Not too sure what she is. Secretly hoping it is a Dutch bantam...

6. This one SHOULD be a Welsummer, and female. Thats what they told me atleast.. I think she's about 1 1/2 months old...

7. This one is a frizzle I believe. Not too sure what specific kind of frizzle though... I will note that I have notice it scratches ALOT all the time non stop. Not sure if this indicates its male, or if its just common. it is about 3 weeks old. You can see a couple more shots of it with no. 5.

8. I was told this one is female and a Polish chicken. It is about 1 1/2 months as well I think.

I also have this group pic of them when I first got them 2 weeks ago. Stupid me deleted the original pics though.

The big pic is of no. 3, and you can see her again in the bottom of the bottom right pic.

Thanks for all your help :)

3,4,5 look like Old english
6 not a welsummer maybe a Barnevelder
7 it's a frizzle if it has feathered feet legs then a cochin
8 polish

Where did you get them?
The first I'm not sure about but it isn't an Old English Game bantam because it has a rose comb.
The second is a Blue Old English Game bantam.
The third and fourth look like Silver Duckwing Old English Game bantam.
The fifth looks like a Ginger Red Old English Game bantam.
The sixth looks an Easter Egger.
The seventh is a frizzle but I'm not sure which breed. Does it have feathered legs?
The eight is a Gold Laced Polish.
The only chick that looks like a cockerel is the first.

I got them from Kakabeka depot. Its near Thunder bay Ontario

Here are some more pics I took today (in the same order as before). Any guesses?

1. Little over a month old I think. Most likely a male.

2. This one is 3 weeks. So far the guess is that it is a Blue Old English Game

3. This one is the one with a stronger stripe. So far it is most likely a Silver Duckwing Old English Bantam. About a month old now

4. This one is also guessed to be a Silver Duckwing Old English Bantam. one month old

5. about three weeks old now. Might be a Ginger red Old English Game. Still crossing my fingers that I might have a Dutch Bantam between one of the three.

6. I was told this one is a Welsummer. Other guesses are that its an Easter Egger or a Barnevelder.

7. Month old. Frizzle. not a cochin (no feathers on legs). Any guess on gender? It scratches ALOT - is that normal?

8, Polish. probably 2ish months old. should be female.

THANKS EVERYONE!
