Hi. I am new here and new to fowl of any kind. I first got 8 chicks from a farm store near by and another 4 from another farm store, a little further away. I was told that two are "cinnamons" and the other six are "bantams". Being so new to this, I thought bantam was a breed but as I am learning, it appears that is a size reference as opposed to a breed. So, I would like some help IDing the 6 I got. (The later four I bought are dominiques and barred rocks.) Also of note, one of the cinnamons has feathered legs and feet and is a cinnamon color... the other is more yellow with light cinnamon streaked in and bare legs and feet...

Here are the photos of the 6. Any help would be appreciated.

Curious which ones were the bantams? Bantams are usually sold straight run because they are too fragile to sex. Guessing they were feather sexed somehow which might be a clue to the breed.

I got pictures today with their legs showing and will post them tomorrow. The ones they classified "bantams" are the ones that we don't know the breed of. The rest we do know their breed. I should have better pics posted by tomorrow night :)

Here are the shots with leg/feet showing. There is a Cinnamon Queen in the group, I believe. There is another (type?) Cinnamon with feathery feet. The rest were touted to be "bantams" and need identification. Thank you in advance for your help and input.

I can't help with breed ID, but I see you said they are all hens- were your bantams straight run or where they sexed as pullets? As the other poster said, banthams typically aren't sexed.

I am not certain. We were told they were all female when we purchased them. I expect them to be knowledge about what they are selling so I will be disappointed if they were just throwing us an answer to shut us up. I wouldn't be shocked by a rooster or two, but I would be if we have more than that.

Do you know where they got their chicks? MPC sells sexed bantams, but at an average of $10 additional cost per chick. Cackle has a sexed pullet special, with only the following breeds possible:

Hatchery Choice Pure Breed 1 day old female bantams (80% sexing guarantee). May or may not be assorted. Breeds can include: Buff Brahma, Dominique, Barred Rock, Rhode Island Red, Crele Old English, Barred Cochin, Barred Old English Game, Golden Laced Cochin and/or Red Cochin Bantams.
