Have a 6 week old Rhode Island red who decided to "fly the coop" so to speak and managed to break her leg. The break seems to be at the second joint at her chest. I was raised on a farm so if that happened some can guess what was done. Now with a small flock and kids at home I'm trying to figure a way to save this girl. At present I have her isolated to her own cage with small dishes of food and water in a room that I am heating just for her. Any suggestions on how to help her along?

Welcome to BYC. The higher up in the leg that there is a break, they tend to be harder to heal. I would make her a chicken sling to get her up off the leg. If you Google chicken sling or do a search here on BYC, there are many pictures of them. People make them out of cups or sponges for chicks, and Tshirts or cut holes in webbing to suspend the. Placing food and water within reach makes it easier to feed them. It can take 2-3 weeks for the bone to calcify. A bad sprain is treated the same way.
