Help with Candling - Hazy Blood Ring? Half empty egg??

Ok, totally new here. I did spend a great deal of last night and this AM searching extensively for definitive answers before starting this thread. Even did a lot of googling, lol. So last night we candled eggs and most of them I either saw veins or not. I am on day 7/8 depending on which eggs because we got a few one day and then were handed some the next. I put in 15 mix breed egg layers and 3 silkies that a hen was sitting on. The following 2 eggs are the ones I am not sure about:



This is one of the silkies...I am thinking a obvious clear, but why is there such a huge air pocket? Also the air bubble rolls around with it. Sounds like detached as described by others, but this was not a shipped egg... Is it normal for an egg to have this much air in it and feel hollow fertilized or not..?



This one is 7 to 8 days old..great veining on the back side and then this side has a hazy dark mass. I candled from the end too, but the mass is better seen this way. I am not seeing clear defined edges like the pics I see of a blood ring...but the shadows remind me of streaking color..like when you drop food dye in water and it streaks out. Air sack is on the right side.. If it was further along I could understand darker mass but shouldn't I only be getting veins at this point? Is this the possible start to a blood ring?

One was an old egg, the other died. Both should be removed and discarded.

That silkie one does have a huge air cell. It's a clear, no doubt. Could have been laid earlier than thought, making it an older egg, it doesn't look extremely porous in the pic, but thinned shelled eggs would also cause loss of moisture at a faster rate. Regardless I would definitely toss that. I had a hen that started laying at the end of last year. She was laying in the nest one of my broodies was in and even though I marked the broodies eggs, I did it with pencil and the marks would rub off so I always candled before taking the eggs into the house and I noticead this particular hen's eggs had a detached air cell. There was like 3 or 4 in a row I found. I was stumped, but after a while they all started looking normal. I still am unsure what the "hiccup" was in the process that caused it.

As for the second pic, I don't throw out anything that still has good veining. As long as it doesn't smell, it stays in unless I am 100% positive that it's a goner, and for me, that means no veining, and or a smell.

I'd keep that second egg too. A lot of my eggs have what I'd describe as "shadow-y streaking," and they go on to hatch out just fine.

Definitely pitch the first one. Good luck with the rest!

Thank you for the good information I cracked open the silkie egg and it we runny yoke nastiness. Also cracked open the other silkies since they looked clear..so no fertile silkies. I separated this one and another to "keep an eye on" to one side of the bator. The rest look pretty good, although I'm worried the largest egg I have may be a double bc I see two seperate "blobs" within the egg...but maybe I'm wrong. Guess we will see.
