This is what my covenant says:
F. No animals, livestock, birds, poultry, reptiles or insects of any kind shall be
raised, bred, kept or boarded in or on a Lot; provided, however, that the Owners or their
Guests may keep a reasonable number of dogs, cats or other domestic animals which are
bona fide household pets, so long as such pets are not kept for any commercial purposes,
and are not kept in such number or in such manner as to create a nuisance to any other
Owners or Guests. The Association shall have, and is hereby given, the right and
authority to determine in its sole discretion that dogs, cats or other household pets are
being kept for commercial purposes or are being kept in such number or in such manner
as to be unreasonable or to create a nuisance, or that an Owner or Guest is otherwise in
violation ofthe provisions ofthis Section, and to take such action(s) as it may deem
appropriate to correct the same. Any pet causing or creating a nuisance or unreasonable
disturbance or noise may be permanently removed from the Property upon three (3) days'
written notice following Notice and Hearing from the Board of Directors. Owners and
26 Guests shall hold the Association harmless from any claim resulting from any action of
their pets. The right to keep household pets may be regulated by Rules and regulations
issued by the Board, and shall be coupled with the responsibility to pay for any damage
caused by such pets, as well as any costs incurred by the Association as a result of such
pets, and any such costs and damages shall be subject to all of the Association's rights
with respect to the collection and enforcement of assessments as provided in this
Declaration.
My Chickens are all very gentle and holdable and have names. They are kept quietly in our backyard and anyone I ask doesn't even know they are there. They will not be raised for meat and are my children's pets. My City allows chickens without a permit, so I think I am home free. What do you think?
