So sorry you went through this and so happy there has been improvement. My duck was attacked by a stray dog a couple of months ago with wounds on his back. After receiving so much information from this site, Harmony healed really well after spending a week or so in a quiet warm room with some extra tlc. I've come to realize these little ducks of ours are alot stronger than we might think, given the severity of their wounds. I think you're doing a great job in helping them heal, just as any concerned Mother would.
I know it hurts losing your duck, but for the sake of your brother, just remind him that his dog was being just that... a dog and that's what dogs do not necessarily trying to harm but playing so rough, too rough for a duck to handle. Give him a big sqeeze
and tell him it's ok, and next time doggy stays home or possibly other arrangements can be made beforehand. Again, so sorry but so happy the other duckies are improving.
