HI There! SORRY THIS IS SO LONG !
I am BRAND new to this forum ! New to chickens .. We have had our hens & 1 rooster about a year now with no real issues! This past week we have had 6 of our 13 losing feather looking not great. I found they had lice ! We are have issues with small birds getting in there large pen & eating their feed. We also have an area for them to free range in our yard. It's open but not to the whole yard because of our Corgi ! I treated them with DE which did not work .. I'm in Canada & I could not buy a mite/lice dusting powder .. You have to have a farming license to buy it here. We went across the boarder & got GARDSTAR GARDEN & POULTRY DUST it seems to be working for the lice!
WHEN DO I REPEAT IT ?
WE CLEAN EVERTHING ! 3x over ..

NOW I have 6 that are wheezing in their chest, funny breathing .. sticky mucus on their beaks ..
AT MY TSC I was given NEOMYCIN 325 water soluble powder.. I am using a 5 gallon water ..
It reads 40gram per 225L of water .. My math is crap but my husband & I figured
3.3365 gram per 5 gallons
40g x 18.93L divided by 225
IS THIS CORRECT ?? I have been reading higher dosages ?? I do a fresh change each day, our 3rd day is today!
We have stopped eating the eggs.
How long after can we start eating them again?
I think I see an improvement ! I did also use Vet RX first day before I have the antibiotics ..
THANK YOU ! A little overwhelmed!
PS we keep a very clean coop ! We have construction grade sand to roll in .. I have 2 young boy 10 & 13 who love their chickens very much !

I'm in south Louisiana and parasite are just life here. I dust my birds almost monthly. I also don't toss my eggs when I medicate or deworm, but some people do.

I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable about dosing chimes in, maybe @casportpony can help. They've helped me tremendously with medications for my birds.

Welcome to BYC! I'm not a vet, but I think I can remember reading that neomycin is used only for serious bacterial infections in the digestive tract. Can you go back to Tractor Supply and get some Tylan 50 or Tylan 200?

This veterinary book says that it's not absorbed from the intestines:
