All my duck eggs are 28 day hatches. I know ducks can pip an then take forever to zip/hatch out. some can take 24 hrs or more. I also know that as long as you can hear pecking/peeping/see movement you are ok and should only help when you hear NOTHING or distress.
WELL some of mine have been hatching out WAY early as in I see them pip the next time they are half out or all out with yokes. ( as in not little one but to large) I know some can have a little yoke and the ones who have by the end of the day its dried an they up eating/drinking or at least up and the next day eating drinking.) This morning at 7am 2 pipped at 11, 3 of them zipped an before I left to get my farm feed at 3 they hatched out (had a little yoke but 2 are almost dry one is almost there) 2 more pipped at 7 am as well. At 10 at night they hatched BUT yokes are WAY to big.....????? so what gives...???? the 3 that hatched at 3bare 1 day late 29 days. which I have read some can be. the 2 that have a yoke are 30 days (Incubator was on lock down as hatching was due) I was going to pitch them as I thought they died BUT I candled an they moved and peeped.
I KNOW I put the right date on there....
I counted the days
THEY had LOTS of room in the egg an 30 days you think the yoke would have been absorbed.
They are vocal not as in Stressed but normal.
They yokers look like my Ruin Duck and My Black Swedish who is always breeding with her. I know the early ones with the yokes MAY NOT make it. I am prepared for that. I already had 7 not long after mothers day hatch out and only 2 made it. My question is WHY are they doing this as in hatching out early?
Hatching out WAY over the due date?
and either way NOT fully absorbing the yoke?
Do I have really late developing ducks as in some and is this a normal thing that some do or are my ducks like retarded for hatching at the wrong time... as in their little timers off? lol
YES I have since changes their paper towle for the night with clean damp paper towle. which I changed them at 12/1AM and later on when I get up at 5/6am I will do it again.

@WVduckchick
Wow! Sorry to hear you are going through this. Just so I understand, these guys are coming out totally on their own without you helping at all? I’ve never experienced this and it looks extremely stressful. I’m sorry you are dealing with this. It might be helpful if you post what type of incubator you are using and what your temps and humidity have been throughout incubation. Also if you have checked to make sure thermometers & hygrometers are accurate. Hopefully someone with experience will help you figure out what is going on. Good luck!

The incubators one is plastic bottom with Styrofoam top. (its top was faulty call store to have it replaced) BUT holds heat now with that top. The other is all Styrofoam. THEM ones hatched no yoke problems BUT only have 3 ducks in it the rest chickens the. the 1st round (just about non hatched as some went bad) but one was all duck one was all chicken) same problem this time they are mixed as i read you can do that.
Temp an humidity is set for both to hatch incubate. This batch is mixed times as my chickens keep laying in coop in they are fertile and are aggressive like NO cant have lol and started to lay outside hiding in the mud lol. TILL the thunder storms SO I gave them some plastic easter eggs in a quick pinch. But I can from reading them how to tell what day an egg is just about tell what day my duck chicken egg is... and there was only 3 I was not sure of them ones DID NOT have the yoke the rest I seen the eggs that morning as they were not their that night so I marked the date on them... that is how I know they were 30 days old..
they came out but the butts still in the shell as in not kicked sitting up a they were it the egg turner yet... (like I said though they where bad that day till I picked up heard peeping and felt moving an was like OK leaving it) I have a brooder BUT no one else was ready. I some that have had chicks told me they can hatch in there just turn the egg turner off. SO I did... and turned the broader on to warm up JUST in case... more hatched out early. (some of my chickens did and I had to bring them up stairs under a heat lamp and I had to give one CPR. 1st time on chick. IT worked but he was too week and passed a few hrs later. when he pipped the inside like shrink wrapped but there was extra or double layer membrane they call it.
I change to layena with omega 3 as some have told me try that for the ducks as they had problems whit theirs when hatching and it helps as the ducks SEEMED to need a little more as well as their bantams SO we shall see if it works this next time round. I am hoping its just 1st time bad luck...
