Hi there,

I have a pair of young peking ducks, and its looking like one is a drake. Im not really interested in breeding them, I really only wanted one, but didnt want it to be lonely mostly my interest is eggs, and sort of a backyard pet (I had a few chickens in the past).

I guess what Im getting at is what should I do about this situation? These are the options I see.

1. Do nothing? Im not sure how this will affect production of edible eggs... I do also worry about an aggressive drake.

2. Adopt the male away now, get another hopefully female duckling.

3. Wait until they mature and feel it out, decide then? -- I wouldnt so much mind a few ducklings every year, but Im not sure if they will mate constantly or what. I've read various posts and articles but it seems that different duck breeds in different circumstances do different things so I cant really get a handle on what the realistic outcome is...
