Hello! So, we found a duckling (I think
) someone dumped in a muddy pond at a park. We know the poor thing was dumped because we've been there the last few days and no ducklings, or anything. There are ducks and geese in the pond, but none have been sitting, or have babies the last three days. Also, was dumped there this morning, was not there yesterday, and doesn't look newly hatched.
Duckling has severe limp, and can only scoot around. As far as I can tell neither legs are dislocated, or broken. Sprain?
Immediate questions:
What type of bedding?
How much water?
Eat watered down chick food??
Next questions:
What breed?
Domestic or wild?
Legal?
How to treat leg?
how old?
Also, if this is a wild duck and illegal, I will immediately find a Wildlife rehabilitation facility.
This duck most certainly could not survive on its own without A mother in the middle of a pond, without the ability to walk or swim straight.
I have no experience with ducks, help is appreciated!!!
Will get pics in a sec.
