@Kiki I followed the advice from this thread, and from the owner of the feed store where I bought it. She said just a a little pinch, it should slightly colour the water but not look yellowExactly, 1/4 teaspoon to one gallon of water. Provide for few days to week whenever birds are under stress. Hot weather, shipped, just hatched, lethargic, etc.
Electrolytes will provide temporary vigor, like sugar. This enables the birds to consume feed. The feed is the real deal in bringing back to health but lethargic birds need that energy boost to start eating. Extreme hot weather will weaken birds, not just the need for cold water but they eat less as we do on those sultry days. A few cucumber sandwiches is not a great diet but it's about all I can eat on a hot day. Same with birds. Give them the boost to eat and that in turn will nourish back to health.
