Guys I got this little one from Meyers hatchery almost 2 weeks ago (come Monday) I ordered this one, a buff brahma and a lavender orp. I guess it's too soon to tell on the others but this ones wing feathers alarmed me. I see black tips and wondering if she is a HE!? What do you think?
Also she is the most skidish of the 3! I thought this breed was suppose to be very docile. She screams when I pick her up! The most friendly and curious is he lavender orp.

There has been some darker pullets from hatcheries in the last few years, so it's possible it's still a pullet. You should know either way in a few weeks. Faverolle are generally gentle, but each chicken is an individual. Any breed can be skiddish as a chick, it's natural for all healthy chicks to be wary and ready to run from predators.

After looking closer some of the feathers have the salmon coloring. Maybe like the other person said some of the hatchery chicks r having some black bleed in.

Any hatchery Faverolles pullet I have had has initially feathered in very muddy and black. After the juvenile molt, I have never had them retain any more than a few black feathers in their wing tips, and most wind up without any black.

All mine had that color in the beginning and they all screamed bloody murder when picked up.Give it another week and you should know for sure. I eIded up with two girlies and a boy.If it's a boy it will become very obvious soon black will pop out everywhere.Okay I zoomed the crap out of

your photos, I think it's a girl my boy didn't have a hint of any other color besides black your chick indeed has a little salmon up the wing.Boy is far right. As for temperament it gets better, I hatched these and they were still easily spooked when lifted, helps to put the feet on your hand I think dangling wigs them out.

Some of my most skittish, panicky birds are my young Easter Eggers and Dominiques. By the time they hit maturity they are all calm and confident. I wouldn't worry too much about their nervousness at this age, just interact gently and consistently and they will come around.
