Help with feed waste!

How hold til they usually can eat pellets?
Not sure, never used pellets.
Could always toss them in the blender for younger birds,
I even do that with crumbles for the first week or two.

Wanted to feed flock raiser. But that's just crumbles right?
FR is available in pellets, but not at all stores.

I don't leave feed out all day. I throw it out at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
They should have feed available every hour they are awake,
especially young birds still growing.
Their digestive systems are different than ours, so B-L-D is not a good idea.

My young chickens get it all day but my adults are fine seeing as there is a extra large yard they forge in every day and trust me I throw out lots of feed. Of course I could go back to leaving food out all day and let rats try to decapitate them when they go in the coop to eat....

Really depends on size of the pellets. There's micro ones and then I've seen some pretty big ones too. At 10-13 weeks they could easily manage smaller pellets, but would possibly reject large ones. Bigger issue is it's harder to find any sort of non-layer feed in pellet form.

You can get diy kits on amazon to make no waste feeders from 5 gallon buckets..... mine work great
