Is there any little hints or tricks that could possibly help so that you would be more likely to get females instead of males when choosing chicks from a bin at feed type stores? I understand there's no exact way to guarantee young ones just maybe small things that might be a girl instead of a boy.

Or would I be better off seeing if our local Atwoods could order me females?

I live in town & want 3 females ... bantams ... hoping brahma, cochin, silky or 1 of each.
From what I've read they're the quiet ones, correct.

Thanks

RedHen... you are bad but me too !!

Iwantchickens.... there seems to be different methods for different breeds.... maybe if you suggest what breed you want someone that raises them may help !

My grand pa use to say if you pick up a baby chick and it held it legs up it was a hen and if they went down they was a rooster. I don't know if that is true, but that is what he always said. I hope that helps.
