thank you very much. she looks much better today! i put her in one of my breeding cages with a few other hens on the lower end of the pecking order. i will be putting her back together with the others in a few days. but this time i will watch her closer

well, with the chsing you don't need to chase them but chickens pick up the puffing and getting taller and are like, "oooh, I'm not pecking this lovely hen over here. I'll just eat some stuff over here now!" but it gets the point across. Within my flock, when roosters are about to fight the roosters stand taller and puff their chests. I've done this and for my hens at least, it works! It seems abit awkward but I think your focused on pacticalness.
