Help with how to cull a Rooster you are attached to

I would never murder a rooster.

Harvesting livestock for sustenance is not murder. If it upsets you to read about culling roosters you might want to stay out of the meat bird section.

I added a 2 yr old rooster to my flock of 8 month old Dominiques 3 months ago because I want to raise a cross between Delawares and Dominiques. I plan on dispatching the cockerels and keeping the layers.It will be hard.

I am in the exact same predicament… too many roosters but I am attached to them all! I did what you said in one reply, separated them hens and have 1 rooster in with the hens, and the others in their own “bachelor pad”. They can still see the hens and interact with them through the fence, but it has definitely helped the hens a ton as they started gaining up on them. Everyone seems to be happier now!

I feel this, I'm doing the same thing now and will re-introduce my Roosters when I get more Pullets

Our extra roosters go in the freezer. Mostly barnyard mixes and Ameracaunas but they're big enough for two or three people for dinner.
