I'm a first-time chicken owner, and one of our ladies hatched with a dislocated hip and as a result, her other leg can't hold up her wait and has over time crippled.

We're considering putting her out of her misery, and we'd prefer the cervical dislocation but aren't confident we'll get it right on the first time and would only cause her more harm.

Does anyone know of anyone or anyplace in Seattle that might be able to help? We plan on donating her to a local wildlife sanctuary for food/enrichment, so trying to avoid any bullets/injections/otherwise potentially harmful things if consumed.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Poor girl :(. What exactly do you mean by food/enrichment? Like, feeding her to other animals?

CD using broomstick worked for me after seeing this vid.

Cervical Dislocation is shown in this video at about 1:00,
it's the only CD video I've found that doesn't remove the head.

Notice the slight divot in the ground under the stick and neck, this will keep the bird from being choked.

Notice that she slowly stretches out the neck and legs before giving the short sharp jerk that breaks the neck , this is key to success IMO.

I've found this technique to be very effective.
