It's still an awesome setup. Do you have electricity and water to that area? If you have electric you could use a couple lights at the top of the posts, since most predators won't go near artificial light. Motion detectors could trigger additional spot lights. You could run electric fence around the base perimeter to deter predators since hardware cloth is so expensive.
If you don't have water there, put a gutter on the roof that runs to a rain barrel. I love my rain barrel! Those are the only ideas I have. Best of luck, it should be a fun project.
