Help with new peacock!!

I personally would treat him for coccidiosis first of all ASAP. Most folks use a product called Corid, should be able to find it at your feed store in the calf section.
I always treat new birds I bring home immediately as stress can bring it out, and take him down.

Someone in here can chime in bout dosages, I think treat for 5 to 7 days but he needs emergency treatment. I use something else so am not up on dosage info. After that is done, you will probably need to worm the guy. :)

Peas are prone to cocci even when older if they are stressed and have quite a bit in their system. Keep an eye on your babies too, if they fluff up and pull their heads in. Most peafowl owners have an emergency kit that includes Corid, and or other stuff to treat various things since by the time the look off it is crucial to get them treated pronto.

Here is his poop... Yesterday, he ate lots of blueberries. I saw him make this poop, it was very watery! Good news-he is eating and drinking now! I put the food in a dog dish instead of the chicken feeder and he seems to like that. He even started making s honking sound when the chickens got talking a lot:) I went to our local tractor supply this morning and they were out of corid and safeguard so we are on our way to a different feed store now (about an hour away). When we get home, I will put the corid in the water. Is it going to be ok for the peachicks to drink from? They are eating medicated crumbles now. Should I wait until the corid is completely finished (4-5 days) before beginning the safeguard? Thank you all for your help and support!! This site is so valuable-you are all so knowledgable!!!

Your peachicks can have Corid and you can give Safeguard and Corid at the same time. How old is your big boy?

He is 1 yr old. We just left the other grain store and they didn't have it either!! We bought sulmet, it was the only other med they had:( should I start this or wait for them to get the corid and safeguard in (this wed)??? I can't believe everyone is out!!

Call them back and ask if they have AmproMed or Amprol (same as Corid) or Safeguard paste for horse or Safeguard paste for cattle. FYI, Corid and Safeguard are not usually found in the poultry section, they're in the goat, cattle and horse section.

Omg, I thought I was looking for safeguard for goats! The store we were just at had the horse and cattle paste!!! We just got home from the drive (it's an hour away). I just called another store and they said they have the goat safeguard but no corid. I am going there-which safeguard should I get, the goat, horse, or cattle? I will also look for the amprol while there. Is it safe to say that I shouldn't use the other stuff I bought (sulmet)?

You can use the Sulmet, though it might not be as effective. If the other store has the goat liquid, get it. If they don't, get the paste. Any paste or liquid will be fine.

Ok, so we ended up with safeguard equine dewormer paste. What is the dosage and how do I administer it? I suppose we will have to weigh him. I would like to do it all at once if possible. That store did not have the corid or amprol so should I use the sulmet or order corid and wait a couple of days to get it? Thank you again for all your help!!

You should weigh him. How's your math? Dose you want to give is 0.23ml per pound orally. At one year old he should weigh pretty close to 9 pounds.

You can medicate his water with the Sulmet, but not sure I would treat the chicks with it. Definetly get the Corid just in case.
