In spite of good coop and run hygeine my bird areas STINK!!!!! Drainage is good but we have had a lot of rain. Odor is strong poo without ammonia. Runs are dirt and decomposed granite. Fresh shavings in coops. Mainly worried about disgusted neighbors and i could not blame them.

Is there anything you can use safely in coops and runs to knock down the odor?

How many chickens and how big is your run area? I add fresh hay to my runs every other month or so and this allows for great drainage and keeps their feet off the dirt and no mud! I have 2 chickens in one tractor and 4 in the other(at the most) the rest I let free range and only lock up at night so all I'm cleaning with them is their roosting areas which I added a CHEAP box of laminent stick tiles to their nesting box floor and also to their roosting areas and they are super easy to wipe clean! If you don't have roosting ledges that would help ALOT! I know people LOVE the dry stall stuff for horses and I've even heard of people using the big rubber horse stall mats too! Just keep trying different things and you will find something that works for you. Blessings, Keri
