help with pheasant eggs!

Yes! I definately plan to let them go. I live on 25 acres and there are pheasants in the back so I figure I can set them free there. The neighbor was really distraught that he had killed the mother. He keeps calling and asking how the eggs are doing. (Not much to tell really, just staying warm in the bator).

Currently, I only have chickens and a few ducks. I've been brushing up on my pheasant for the moment!

But of course! There have been way too few around here because the fox population and coon population were so high for so long, but the foxes were wiped out by distemper a couple years ago so there have been many people around here helping with a recovery effort by releasing them.

Hinkjc, thanks for the article!

What a dedicated mother pheasant. If only some human mothers were as loyal, the world would be a better place!

Don't throw out the eggs if they seem to take too long to hatch. I incubated pheasant eggs last year, and the hatch time really varies. It helps to candle them, to see how far along they are.
