Help with rescue chicken..breed and gender please.

    Okay need some help with this one. I have seen this chicken walking along side the road by where I work. Nothing but woods so I am sure he/she is on the lose. Well of course I want to save her/him so one night leaving work I saw it roost... then waited until it got darker and was able to get him/her. I put him/her in a pen today and now that she/he has perked up I think I caught a rooster. I think it is Black Australope. The legs are dark yellow. Thanks for your help.

    I think you're right that it's a black chicken! BUT I think it's a hen, looks like she should be laying!

    Very Roo feathered. Good looking one, too. Not so sure about Australorp, though, as their legs are not yellow.

    A rooster and not a BA they don't have yellow legs.

    Definately a roo... Looks very Buff Orpington-ish to me... possibly a Black Aussie Buff O cross... maybe?? [​IMG]
