Thanks in advance for any help, it would be so incredibly appreciated. I'm terrified that I would get the dosage wrong and accidentally hurt him.

Canker. It's gotten really bad, the inside of his throat is swollen to the point where he can't swallow, and it's been like that for months now. The vet prescribed metronidazole for ten days, which I did, but I don't think anything has improved. I tried to contact this vet again--along with another one who treats chickens--but neither responded.

So sorry. It's probably not canker, but go ahead and try the pigeon stuff. I've been through this with a few of mine and I suspect the last two were actually cancer. You could try enrofloxacin in case it's a bacterial infection.

I still have some hope that it is canker rather than something worse, since he got sick at the exact same time as another one who has since recovered. Also, since using the metronidazole, two very small patches in his beak cleared up, but the huge patches in his throat remained, so hopefully it's just a very serious case of canker? I can try to get some photos, I'll upload them ASAP

The first photo is what I sent to the vets about two weeks ago, the second is one I took just now (apologies for the quality, I didn't have any help)

One of the vets did take a look at him briefly, and he said it was canker, but I don't know if he did any tests or if it was just guesswork.

Why do the best ones always get sick?

It will start bleeding, but the bleeding doesn't last long.
