A couple months ago I had a White Giant start isolating herself and fluffing out a bit. I figured it was broodiness since she was eating and drinking. I checked her out for damage or mites and found nothing. Last week I cleaned out the coop after a long winter and was able to pick her up. I was shocked! She was light as a feather. I tried to hand feed and offered water and greens. She would not eat or drink. Her comb had faded in a couple of days. I did notice a messy vent. (something she had not had before). Consequently, she died this past Thursday. Everyone else in the coop seems fine and has been eating well.

Today I went into the coop and found one of my Deleware's dead. She was fine yesterday. There was no messy vent and her comb appeared red yesterday. I'm perplexed. Not sure what to do. I would welcome any advice. I'm afraid there in an infection. We recently got rid of a rooster a couple of weeks ago and now I've had two die. My flock is down to 8.

I have not wormed them. I can try that. The Delaware weighed normal. Can you get the stuff for that at the farm store?

Safeguard is a good de wormer, and you can get it at a feed store, it's sold as a goat wormer if you get the liquid, just buy a syringe without the needle. I'm sure someone here can tell you how often to worm. From what I know at least you give them the medication wait 10 days and dose them again.
Liquid is easiest, I believe the dosage is .5cc for every 2.2lbs of hen.

Hope it helps, sure help save mine.
