I bought four 1-2 week old chicks yesterday. I noticed late in the day what looked like a couple long, stringy things. This morning there was a mound of worms, ew. I don't know which of the 4 it is so I will worm them all, but what do I use? I have Wazine, but that's only for round worms I believe, and slightly older chicks. Should I try apple cider vinegar in the water first, if so how much? A little DE mixed in with their food? Or??? Not sure what to use, as I've never had babies with worms... Thanks!!!

I've read that pumpkin and pumpkin seeds are a natural wormer, but other than that I don't know. Hope the medicine works!

Wazine is specifically for roundworms and it should work great if that's what you're seeing. I would not bother with the natural remedies since those are more about prevention than cure and you're seeing a severe infestation. Be sure to follow the instructions to redose after 30 days so you get the ones that hatch after treatment. I personally opted for Safeguard (broad spectrum wormer) when I had hens symptomatic for worms but with nothing visible in the droppings. You might consider following the Wazine with that.

And, I'd absolutely contact the seller. I've never heard of chicks that young being that infested.

Wellie, these are tiny chicks, so you can't really do seeds that big. When I see a big infestation I go for chems, or risk losing a bird. Happily, it looks like the worms seem to be gone! I use white paper towels for the 1st 2 weeks on the floor, so it's easy to track. Just little poops now. I will re-do in 1 month just to be on the safe side. I will get some Safeguard soon, stores were closed yesterday...
