I moved this to this thread- I bought four 1-2 week old chicks yesterday. I noticed late in the day what looked like a couple long, stringy things. This morning there was a mound of worms, ew. I don't know which of the 4 it is so I will worm them all, but what do I use? I have Wazine, but that's only for round worms I believe, and slightly older chicks. Should I try apple cider vinegar in the water first, if so how much? A little DE mixed in with their food? Or??? Not sure what to use, as I've never had babies with worms... Thanks!!!

I did start them on wazine just now, since no one offered any advice yet, and the feed store I need is closed today...

I have been removing them, but will try tomorrow. They are white/tan, long and skinny. I would have answered sooner, but I didn't get an email, even though I subscribed?

Happily, it looks like the worms seem to be gone! I use white paper towels for the 1st 2 weeks on the floor, so it's easy to track. Just little poops now. I will re-do in 1 month just to be on the safe side.

Well they're back. Can anyone say what these are? Luckily the local feed place has a new broad spectrum wormer- Rooster Booster: Triple Action Multi-Wormer- A multi-action product group that kills round worms, cecal worms and capillary worms in poultry. Blended in a nutrition-rich base containing essential amino acids, vitamins, minerals and direct-fed microbrials. I hope this works, or they're going back!!! They look like round worms to me, but the wazine didn't work completely or?

That is shed intestinal lining, not worms. That's why I asked for pics, 1 to 2 week old chicks do not get worms. Large roundworm larva usually dont become infective until about 3 weeks. Other types of worm larva become infective much later.

Shed intestinal lining is normal on occasion. However if it's frequent there might be a cocci problem. I recommend purchasing Corid 9.6% liquid solution. Dosage is 9.5cc's per gallon of water for 5 days. It must be their sole source of water to drink and dont add anything else to the mixture. Make it fresh daily. It'll be in the cattle section at a feed store.
