hi,

I had a duckling start popping last night around 10pm at the wrong end of the shell, it has broken the shell but not inside membrane. It is now almost 24 hours later and no more progress. I have candled to make sure still alive and can see movement near air sack. Any advice? Do I help it?

Maybe make a small hole in the membrane and see what happens or if you can see where it's beak is, make a hole there. Not an expert on duckling though.

I have done this before with my chicks, you take a wet paper towel or cloth and peel the shell gently.

If you have trouble, I used an eye dropper full of warm water and dripped it in the egg so it wouldn't dry up and the little one can move.

Thankyou, I have wetted the membrane and can see duckling moving. I try gently peeling a piece of shell but it began bleeding so I stopped.
Really don’t want the little guy to die

This happened to me and I ended up having to help with a hatch. All went well. Just wait as long as you can. Good luck!

I did. It did bleed a little. I peeled back so I knew she could breathe.. then waited. She ended up being in a really funny position and I had to help her out the rest of the way. Just be super patient. If it bleeds I’d wet it and put it back in the incubator. Wait more.

You got this!!! Keep us posted
