I need advice as fast you as you can type. I have two baby pigeons. I don't know their age they must be a few weeks old as they have feathers but still have some yellow down. How and what should I feed them? All help welcome. Thanks.

Do you have frozen peas? If so you can defrost them in warm water and then gently open the babies beak and pop the peas in one at a time, let them swallow in-between. That's the easiest way for me and you don't have to worry about getting water down their lungs. If you think they need more liquids you can try dipping the tip of their beak in a bowl of water and they should start sucking/swallowing it.

Thank you so much for the help:). We did manage to get them to eat a bit of porridge. One seems very lively and other slightly older one is more laid back. I think they might be about 2 weeks old. I could be wrong though.

I now have a new problem. My pigeons have little red mites and what I think are pigeon flies. How do I get rid of them? I don't know what products we have in South Africa to deal with this. Any and all help will be most welcome. Thanks.

Easiest thing getting them to take consistently would be chicken layer pellets, which at first can be gently put to back left facing throat, usually only days at most till they get its feed. There are some homer people on here from south Africa, and they maybe able to know or locate pigeon feed if want to go that way, usually pigeon feed expensive, where layer feed n scratch grains with wild bird seed,is cheaper. I've and others used budgie/"parekeet" feed, n works good but rich n makes messier feathers dander poop some.
