I have a 6 month old pekin duck who has just recently began quacking all day starting at 5 and not stopping until dark. He has plenty of food and his own swimming pool can anyone give me some reasons he might have begun acting this way?

Is it the only duck that you have?

Same question as sourland. Ducks are very social. All the Ducks I've ever had, (which is a bunch), would get very upset if they were alone. If he is an only-duck you probably need to get another duck to keep him company.

In the meantime, an unbreakable mirror can be a big help. Is the duck in a very safe place where predators (including dogs and cats and hawks) cannot get to her or him? Ducks can see threats that we cannot see.
