Help!!!

I did before I saw the pip as it was upside down and I thought it wasnt pipping. I took out two because thats what I could grab quickly while checking this one. Thanks. This helps. I'm thinking it may need some assistance since its been over 12 hours now.

I use tweezers to break away the shell a little at a time gently. Good luck :thumbsup

I would take the other chicks out, and check that one.

I do not want to get into a debate here---I told you I was a hands-of-hatcher---but you already said you opened the incubator then seen this chicks. Did you remove the hatched chicks at that time----You should have being you already had it opened. So, now I would open and remove the hatched chicks and remove this egg---close the incubator and help this chick by breaking some of the egg shell off---as long as it does not start bleeding break more shell off. If its time for it to hatch, you can probably break all the shell off---if it starts bleeding--stop---put the egg back in and give it a little more time. Good Luck!

12 hours is not long for a chick to be pipped. I give 24 hours before assisting, but in this case with that much down sticking out I would definitely pull out any hatchers, move to the brooder and expand the pip hole as it may have turned in the egg.

Thats what concerned me. I havent done this much but the down sticking out is very concerning. I didnt have tweezers so i used my seam ripper for sewing. I chipped off a good bit. No blood but no chirping either. I placed it back as it had cooled off. Im giving it a little longer but with the lack of movement and chirping i think when it got turned or whatever it may have died.

I chipped off more. I havent found the head but I did see a little blood so I put it back in the incubator for the night

LOL, shocked you didn't I Amy. I am Hands-Off, but I feel once you open it----you might as well become a hands-on!! I do become a hands-on if some has not made it out---after the due date when I open to remove the hatched(day 22). My last hatch a few days ago were some-what shipped eggs--and I had 5 out of close 100 that I had to help out but I break them completely out and they never bleed--ready to hatch just could not make it out on their own for some reason----so I am a hands-on at the end!!
