I wouldn't mess around with trying to supplement any initially. Feed mom well and she can hopefully feed them all. Milk replaces can cause digestive upsets, so I wouldn't do it unless it's necessary. Weight the pups and keep track of their weights for or a week or two to watch how they are doing. My shepherd was able to raise 13 pups without assistance.

Hmm okay. Well, we're just judging off her first litter. Her first was 8 pups, and she was quite gaunt for about 3 or 4 weeks even with meat supplements. The puppies did okay, except one or two. I'll pick up some milk replacement for dogs and a couple nipples, just in case, but won't interfere unless it's apparent that a pup or two is falling behind.

Also, what are you feeding and how much? It might be that she just needs a better quality food. and also I'm sure you probably know but when they're pregnant or nursing you can double or even triple the amount of food she's getting
