I have three pekin ducks, 1 male 2 female. Recently I've noticed that my one female lost some feathers on her wing and her feathers looked rugged now all three have rugged looking feathers. It's my first time raising ducks and it's there first winter. I was thinking that they might have gotten a late start molting but im not sure. Please help.

I am no duck expert but I’ve heard that young ducks sometimes preen themselves bloody. Don’t know why. Has the drake been mating her a lot? I would get more females if I were you, maybe two more.

That drake should have 5-8 females, instead of two.
What are you feeding? Sometimes improper protein content can cause feathers to deteriorate.
If they are overcrowded or lacking protein they may be chewing on their feathers.

Aww how precious feathered family members sorry to hear what they're going through. Have you contacted a vet/ shelter for some advice. Wish I could help you out, but this is just my opinion. Hope you get the help you need :hugsKeep us posted :frow

How old are they?

I don't have Pekins, and I couldn't tell you an exact age, but I believe around the 4-6 month mark all of the ducks I've raised looked like that. I think it was flight feathers coming in. In the case of my mallards and welsh harlequins, it was the iridescent feathers. They were all the same age, so it happened around the same time. I don't know if Pekins are different, but if it's the same spot on both wings with all three of them, I'm betting this is a growth thing, not an illness. If it was bullying they'd be missing feathers on their backs. Hope this helps!
