I'm hatching chicks for the first time. 3 hatched no problem and then I came home from work and found one that didn't make it because the humidity dropped. My question is there is another pipped egg and i can hear chirping. Should i assume the membrane is dry in this egg and try to help? And just to confirm, the membrane was like shrink wrap...feel terrible.

If it’s for sure shrink wrapped, I would try and help it by peeling away the shell around the egg where it pipped. Only as long as you’re not hitting any blood vessels. If it starts to bleed, stop and put back and try again later.

So i helped it out...membrane was pretty dry. The chick is really wet and sleeping. Humidity in the incubator is 70% for the remaining eggs. Should I move this little one to the brooder to dry off?

Yes, with that high of humidity, it will not dry off. Although, if you have other ones hatching, opening the bator puts them in jeapordy of not hatching successfully, so keep it closed as much as possible.
