HELP!!!!!!!

Hot, HOt, HOT here in VA this week as well, and humidity is miserable. We have plenty of shady places in the yard and ponds for the birds to hang out. I have scheduled the cleaning out of pools for around 1p this week so the water will be fresh and cold. Also, I've set up a temporary "cooling station" in one corner with an EZ up tent. I put several ice packs under an over turned galvanized bucket, the chickens actually figured out that laying against it felt nice pretty quickly. (I was surprised) My ducks and geese enjoy the cooling station so well they were refusing to go home for the evening last night! :lau:confused: Best of luck getting them out of their climate controlled indoor pool!!

Ducks swim in cold lakes and streams I doubt a few trays of ice will be much of a shock. But it's always up to the OP . On a steamy hot day a glass of ice water sure taste good.

I'm in Georgia and it's been very hot and humid here. The "heat index" (opposite of wind chill I think) has been 107° at times in the past couple of weeks.

My 11 ducks have grass to lay in and trees to lay under for shade. There are 5 good sized water buckets scattered around and they have 2 pools to get into for cooling down. They don't seem to be stressed out about it at all. I think they acclimate pretty well to temperature changes.

I prefer ice tea, with lemon. But don’t give it to your ducks!

Seriously though, water and shade available. Mine find shady bushes and just hide. You might see them pant, or act lethargic. just keep them watered and shady.
Ice tea with lemon sure does sound refreshing.:drool

I love iced tea with lemon! I am going to make some now. It has been very hot and humid here as well. I just provide nice cool pool water and lots of buckets of drinking water and they do great. The majority of my run is covered so they can get plenty of shade. So far so good!
