My Rhode Island Red is missing a bunch of her stomach feathers and the skin underneath is bright red. She also isn’t acting as perky as she usually is. She isn’t a brooder, is at the top of the pecking order and this just recently started happening. WHAT SHOULD I DO!?!??! Does she need to go to the vet? I need help!

Does she have any other symptoms? How about mites? Is she still laying normally?

(Also I just posted my own issue with a RIR with missing feathers, but probably a whole other different reason than yours.)

I’m not sure about laying, we have 4 chickens but recently we have been getting only 3 eggs. She usually is the type of chicken to be all over you but when I try and pick her up she just runs away. Also I live in Missouri so this might be related to the constant changing weather

Pictures? I'm not a vet but I might be able to help a bit.

I'm not a vet but have a couple of questions. Is her abdomen swollen along with the redness? Doses she have poopy butt? Is she rubbing her underside on the roost at night?
