Or in a few hoursNo much can go wrong as long as you put the safety hole after the internal pip, if you do it before, the membrane may shrink and the duckling won't be able to pip, but by now a safety hole will be fine, it just ensures the duckling is getting air.
So I'd probably do it on a few no fertile eggs first to get the hang of it, but to make a safety hole, grab a sharp sterilized screw or brad point drill bit, position it on the air cell end of the egg, and gently twist back and forth until you make a small hole, no need to widen any further. Here is a safety hole I made in a Call Egg. Very tiny as you can probably see.

Ok, thanksI'd do it around this evening, earlier if they aren't moving around so much, or later if they are moving around tapping against the shell.
