my brother thought it was a good idea to give my 8/9 week cochin an apple seed, luckily it was only one (not crushed). what should i do? APPLE SEEDS ARE TOXIC! HELP

One apple seed is just fine. No need to medically intervene. Mine have eaten them with no I'll effect.

Hi there.

I avoid allowing my animals to eat apple seed due to arsenic inside them. However, the problem with arsenic in this instant is when it builds up and becomes a cumulative effect.

Toxic and poisonous are two different things.. toxic might cause mild upset stomach, diarrhea, or headache, etc. In other words cause discomfort but not death. Even things that cause euphoria can be considered toxic.

What I would do is make sure that you chicks have access to grit. While most mono-gastric animals might pass the seed whole.. I doubt the apple seed will pass whole in a chick since fowl have a crop that grinds stuff down.

How old is your dear brother? Maybe educate him on reasons not feed your birds without your approval.
