Do you want to hatch eggs, or do you just keep them for eggs?

Then do a bachelor pad with only males, and rehome the female. A started pullet will get rehomed pretty easily.

Overmated hens are stressed, subject to being driven away from food, injured and even killed by the males.

You really need all hens or all roos.

My vote would be all hens since you can still get eggs even without a male bird. Offsets the cost of feed.

Yes... Sorry that you have to part with some of your loved pets... but it would be in their best interest to do that.
