I would wash my hands and not wear gloves: you need to be very delicate near the ducks eyelid and you have far more sensitivity in your ungloved fingers.
Wash them well before handling the ducks eye to protect the duck and wash them again afterwards to protect yourself.
Use soap and a nail brush!
