How do I separate and allow only rooster to eat rooster food and 8 week old chicks eat chick food? I have rooster all dock raiser food hanging so they can't reach but they jump and fly up there and eat his. He eats theirs. I put theirs in a little feeding tray with the little holes in it big enough for babies to eat but he barely sticks his beak in and eats it. I have spent all day outside trying to keep them from eating each other's food. How do you do it?

Agreed. If the chicks can’t fit big feed in their mouth, they won’t eat it until they can. @NatJ is right it won’t hurt either of em. Don’t feel pressured or stressed about this, your chickens are all good ❤️❤️ Good luck 👍

TBH, that only thing you really want to avoid is the young ones eating the layer feed. The only other concern is that the young ones will do better on crumbles than pellets.

Flockraiser crumbles + a side of oyster shells (for the layers) = feed for pretty much any flock.
