My chicken got attacked by a weasle today. She is struggeling for life. If I blow into her beak she will come to for a second or 2. I'm not sure if any internal damage has been done, but can anyone advise me if its ok to blow harder to maybe open her airways? I know this sounds crazy, but we are so willing to try. Any ideas what we can do?

You will likely pop her lungs open if you do --either email dlhunicorn for advice (she seems to be the forum expert in emergencies) and/or seek out a vet for your baby asap

I hope you can help her. I moved your post to Emergencies. Good luck. Keep her warm and in a dark place if you can get her to come to. She is probably in shock. What is the damage? If she is still alive, blowing on her might be waking her up because she is trying to rest?

your bird is in shock...you will need to keep her warm ... give electrolytes/vit in the water (chikldrens pdialyte or gatorade will do in a pinch>this should be at a tepid warmth0 dribble it alongside her beak if she is unable to drink herself.
What wounds are there? (Look good for puncture wounds.) How old is your bird?

Thanks all for your help. I'm sorry I am new to the forum and in a panic just popped it on the first thread I saw. We called a vet today and from what he said is that it most likely damaged the veins in her neck. We lost one immediately (Thelma) and we lost our other last night (Princess) I am so sad. We have one remaining chicken that is now living in the house. They are/were 3 years old.

Darn...I'm sorry that you lost 2 out of the three of them...
I'd suggest calling animal control or a register nuisance animal trapper and getting some suggestions, because when you get more birds, it might come back.
Give Red a big hug and buy her a diaper.

Thanks for the kind words. She is up at my boy friends cabin and she is still hanging on. I have electrolytes so my next question is how much? We were able to get 2 ml into her. She is able to swallow it on her own. She is going to the bathroom normal. She is just out of it still. Her eyes open and she comes to every now and again. She doesnt appear to have any major damage. Some cuts on her neck and feathers missing. When it first happened I picked her up, as she was down. I used a cloth to hold on her neck. The bleeding stopped, but I'm worried it may have done some internal damage.

That weasel is one tough animal. Thats a long story for another day.

I can only add that we rescued a chicken (never found her owner) from a fox attack, her eyes were closed, almost like those little x's in cartoon deaths. Brought her home, kept her separate from our fowl in small cage, w/food and water. We were SURE she'd die. Well, she is a tough bird, and is still laying eggs for a friend 6 mos. later. Good luck. Your chicken has had a great life that she might not have had without you, anyway. Find peace in that no matter what happens.

She's probably still in shock...she should be okay if she's kept warm and quiet. She could also be having PTSD sort of Shell Shock...especially since she saw her buddies murdered.
