help!

IN case this happens again next hatch do the following. This is what I did with 1 of the 2 silkie s I helped the mom hatch ... If needed with the incubator still running tape from the top, pillowcases around the sides of the incubator so each time you open the thing the chick-s will not feel a draft and you will be able to have both hands -cleaned hands- inside to wipe off the baby chick with wet warm cotton balls. Make sure the incubator stays around 50% humidity. Watch and if the babe needs to drink - syringe feed drops of sugar water every hour. After a day and hopefully the babe has dried/ fluffed up and running on its own power- place the chick in the brooder or as with mine I returned them to mom.
One of my chicks did fine but the other chirped loudly every time mom got up .. His problem was he was a runt & could not keep his body temp up and eat on his own so I became moms helper. At night he stayed with mom but during the day he snuggled between my breast and I fed and gave him food/ fluids every hour for the first week. I used the chick mash moistened with warm sugar water- very wet- and fed it by syringe. If I sat too long like at a computer and my body heat dropped he would let me know and I would get my heart rate and body heat up and he would settle down. I had him on a small piece of washcloth and I wore an old exercise bra with plenty of room for him. Today he is a beautiful roo and loves to still snuggle next to my chest. I know he remembers my heartbeat and is still soothed by it. By the way he went everywhere with me...the store, hardware and grocery etc.
