I did try honey, and it made it shrink a bit.

She is so exhausted, poor thing!

Yeah mine didn't lay for another few days your girl must be doing really well to lay again :)

Ok I have a HUGE update!

So a few days after she passed the egg, her vent would NOT go back in, so we just left it out. It turned a very dark red and soon purple. It dried out, but she is still walking around with it. She seems to be doing ok, just a bit tired, but otherwise eating and drinking fine. There were a few days when we had to give her water through a pipette because she refused to drink it by herself. I think I will just wait for the thing to fall off. I put her back into the coop, and she is treated just fine by her sister and the godzilla standard size hens. She follows her sister around EVERYWHERE. Also, her wings sort of hover at her sides instead of being tight to her side. She has no problem walking, though. Once in a while, she will preen the feathers around her vent, but not peck at the thing hanging out. She has lost over 50% of her weight, but is slowly regaining it day by day. No eggs so far. I heard that when pigs have prolapses, they usually just cut them off or tie a string around so the circulation of blood stops and it falls off. If it doesn't fall off from my chicken soon, I might try the string method. Sorry I didn't update in a while! I will keep you posted on what happens! It has been about a month since she first prolapsed but she is a fighter!
