HELP!!!

We have lost a total of 3 chicks so far 1 of them had to be put down because she was so far gone and we took her to the vet and thy put her down. We have 2 of the bodies and they were sent to OSU to see what's wrong.

first of all I want to thank all of you for posting and helping me find out my poor mozzarella has coccidiosis, we are going to a feed store to pick up some medicated chick starter which has Medicine it to treat coccidiosis! I know for a fact mozzarella has coccidiosis because she has her legs sticking out, her wings are spread apart and she has almost 0% energy, her eyes are closed and rarely open.

Medicated chick starter will NOT treat coccidiosis. You need to purchase Corid to treat it. In the meantime I recommend that give your chick buttermilk via eyedropper, a drop or two on the side of the beak so she can swallow it. It will slow but not treat the cocci protozoa. If you dont, your chick will probably be dead by the morning.
 
Hi I've also been following along with the conversation because I am close with antoniogarza-M and have seen the chicks myself, we have two more while as you know one is gone and the other is hanging in there. But the other two look fine, but so did mozzarella before she got sick. So I can only thank all of you for your help and suggestions for all of our little chicks, and we can hope they can make it.

Corid(amprolium)is placed in water and is used to treat coccidiosis. Medicated feed will do nothing for a coccidiosis overload/outbreak,there is not enough amprolium in it. She is not eating b/c she is ill,try and find some Corid.

To encourage eating,try adding warm water to feed(medicated water if you have corid) so it resembles oatmeal most chicks love this and it is easier for the frail ones to eat. You can add buttermilk to feed(so it resembles oatmeal) as Dawg53 suggested until you find Corid.

This morning my poor chick has passed on. I guess it was too late, even if I gave her buttermilk. She was suffering, and the last thing I want was to let her feel pain all night and all day. R.I.P mozzarella 3/25/14
