Helped Out Hatchlings ***Graphic Pics*** -- (Another UPDATE)

Hello--

The three ducklings are doing well. It's difficult to get good pictures of them. They run around so fast.

I still have a little one inside the incubator. The navel area looks much better. The swelling has gone down considerably--it even looks a bit crusty. The bath in warm water sure helped to fluff out its down. It can now open and close its eyes much better.

I won't stop worrying about these little guys!

Here are some pictures.

Oh, I'm so glad you've got a couple of them up and running around. Yes, that last one is still absorbing the yolk, but looks like it'll be OK so far as I can tell.

They are looking so much better !!! And so CUTE!! Wonderful to see the three littles ones are doing OK... The fourth...well.. Only time will tell- not out f the woods yet- but certainly still has a chance.

The first time can teach you so much... Leave those eggs- with what you have learnt this first time around- you will be better prepared for the next lot when they are due.

Well, my little one didn't make it. I went to check on it and it had passed away. The duckling seemed so weak, but I was hopeful it would be okay since the yolk absorbed and the navel area was looking so much better today.

I hate this. I just spent time holding each three ducklings for a while, but it didn't take the heartache away.

I'm glad I read all the way down before congratulating you on the one...sorry to hear he didn't make it! It does happen though, that's ducks for you...I had "Nano" rally on her third day out of the shell and get up off her back, and I've had one or two seemingly healthy ones up and die for no obvious reason in the brooder. You just can't have them all live.
